Blog #1 Test Grade 500+ words due 9/30/16

Discuss in detail your ideal G&T classroom.

  1. In reality, everyone has their own opinions and preference on everything in life. From what to wear in the morning for school, and until what you decide to have for dinner, everyone lives a life of their own joy, happiness, and even the darkest days. People have different flavors in their hobbies, designs, and even what they want their hair color to be. Now, clearly I don't expect everyone to see life the way I do, or act like my little mine. Imagine how life would be if everyone around you enjoyed the same exact interest for everything. Pretty boring from head to toe right? Well, that's when you spice up the world you live in and accept differences and even changes that affects you. After all, be true to yourself because your friends and peers are still human no matter how they act, do, or believe.
Having that said clear and bold, my ideal G&T classroom should start off with positive characteristics. The classroom should be a friendly environment filled with laughters, excitements, and a place where everyone feels comfortable to express any ideas, questions, or statements. Everyone is treated respectfully no matter how they look, what they wear, or by any religious background. Always learn to lend a hand to whoever is struggling because after all, G&T is a privilege, take it seriously and make it a family community. Never leave anyone on the hanging cliff, especially while knowing that your all in the same room for a reason. Working together is definitely a must while participating in activities and group work. Find out ways to know each other so you can have conversations without any awkward feelings. On the other hand, setting self goals is also very important. The classroom should be filled with hard working students that always puts their best foot in the game. Slackers are one of the worst thing you could be because it feels better when you know you’re putting in your best work. Without organized and hard working people, the classroom can end up in a disaster. Do your part to make something wonderful happen where it should happen.
The next ingredient to have my ideal classroom would be organization at the very best. When it comes to having neatness, I don't consider myself as a “neat freak”, but knowing where supplies are in a classroom is very helpful. It is impossible to picture working in a classroom filled with crumpled paper scattered around the floor, or even every tool we need just threw in a random spot in the room. I honestly think I wouldn't be able to finish any of my work or be able to pay attention when such massive amount of garbage catches my eyes. Instead, I prefer all the supplies to be labeled and put in a drawer of some sort, items including scissors, glue sticks, extra paper, pencils , etc.…. Every desks needs to be evenly spaced out to be looked as somewhere I would want to study in. If there is any, the books are recommended to be neatly stacked in a certain order. Something that drives me insane are how every teacher has over loaded poster on the walls. It makes me feel so cramped, but really it's a pretty big room. Therefore, the classroom needs spaced out posters and only if the posters are necessary. Being organized around the classroom saves so much time, and a lot easier to manage.

  2. Another mixture I would add in to have a classroom of my choice is throw in some comfortable pillows and chairs to feel relaxed. I seriously don't even mind donating some pillows to have a cool classroom. I feel the struggle of having ants in my pants during class, so maybe some cushioning chairs can help. It would be my dreams to read in a comfortable place where I could travel into my fantasy world full of pink unicorns or a fluffy wonderland. Sometimes it's harder to imagine when you're not in a neat position. This addition would really be a sugar on top.
Last but not least, let's make our classroom unique and shiner than the real world. Instead of having white walls filled with old tape around posters, let's decorate our room so it feels like a great environment to be in. Maybe dash the walls with aqua blue to have that amazing feeling at sea. Place encouraging phrases around the classroom to make the students inner soul glow. Hang up classy designs in the ceiling for something 3D life. So much outside of the box things we could accomplish by just taking a look at how much effort a teacher puts into making the room a better place to be.
In conclusion, my ideal classroom would preferably be organized, comfortable and an unique environment for unique students filled with several positive vibes around the place. Now, obviously I won't get upset of my dream classroom if it doesn't get constructed because others may not have the same ideas as me. It would certainly be out in the open air, ready for attention but anything is perfectly fine

  3. Close your eyes for a second and imagine the perfect classroom environment. Let me tell you what I am visualizing.

First of all, if I were to walk into this ideal classroom, the walls would be filled with motivational posters and quotes that serve as inspiration rather than a distraction or “escape” during a lecture or assignment. I will be able to feel and see at least a slight amount of encouragement when things get a bit tough. These posters will aid in boosting my self-esteem and give me a more positive outlook on school. Instead of thinking of school as an 8 hour routine; I will see it more as 8 hours to better myself as a person and to strengthen and gain knowledge.

Next, the setup of the classroom should be varied from individualized and more spacious to clustered group work and collaboration. I believe that every student has a different work ethic that fits best and will lead them to success. I for one work well individually and in a group. In some subject areas, I prefer to work individually because I am able to think to myself and clear my thoughts out on my own, as well as be self-paced. However, in other subject areas I prefer to work as a collaborating group because I find it helpful to hear other ideas and opinions that can broaden my own and present other ideas that I hadn’t thought of and probably wouldn’t have without the collaboration. Both of these set ups would help in my education because I would learn how to be an independent worker and thinker as well as be able to communicate with others and be open minded.

Furthermore, I think the teacher would be one of the most vital aspects to my ideal classroom environment. He or she would be friendly and easy to talk to. A very sociable and friendly teacher would help in my success, because I wouldn’t be afraid to ask questions, make a mistake or be intimidated. The teacher would relate the subject to ideas or events that are going on today that are easily relatable. This would help in my success because I will be able to comprehend the knowledge better, which will help retain the information. They should be very knowledgeable in the subject area. In other words, know what they’re talking about. This aspect would be helpful since the teacher is one of the more important parts of the class.

Lastly, the ideal classroom needs to have students who are willing to actively participate in class. When other students genuinely care about the class, it is motivation for me to care too. Often other students will ask questions that I had not thought of before. When a professor lectures all hour without student participation the class can get boring quickly. However, other students who care about succeeding help me succeed in my education too. I don’t know if it is just me, but I HATE slackers. People who attend a class should be willing to do the work at attentively pay attention in class.

It isn’t impossible to come across well developed, ideal classroom environment, however it is a choice to make the best of where you are at. Whether you are at a school you enjoy greatly or not, education is education. Success will be granted and the outcome if you are willing to put in the income. The environment is merely an extra helping hand.

    What do you think?

  5. If the world was a perfect world, then we would all have the same opinions, or that is what I think it would be. Alas, the world is not a perfect one. And neither are we. We all have our flaws, and that makes us different. We don't all have the same hopes, the same fears, and we shouldn't force someone to see a certain way. Everyone is different in a certain way, and that makes us unique. I don't expect everyone to see my way, or act like me and my mind. Just like You can't please everyone. But I can say what I would like.

My ideal Gifted and Talented room would be having a positive vibe because everyone wants to feel happy. The room should be filled with happy students and teachers. They should be laughing, enjoying, not afraid to be scared about what others would say about them. It doesn't matter. Everyone should be treated as the same person, no matter what their beliefs are, or what they do. Everyone should be at the same level.

In my ideal G&T room, everyone would be working together. Helping each other. They shouldn't be taking sides or having biases towards someone, which is kind of what I said about everyone being treated equally. If someone needs help, somebody should help them no matter if they are foe or friend. There is no need to compete with one another unless you are playing a game. In that case, you should have a friendly competition.

I would want comfortable pillows in the classroom. Sometimes people get really stressed. When I do, I would usually lie down on my bed and just think. And that really helps me. I get less stressed. I just want a separate part of the room, maybe like a corner, to be filled with pillows. It would be nice to read or relax after you finished. And it would also help with the stress. I would also want everything in be organized. I am a neat freak. I NEED everything to be in a certain place. If it isn't then I will just give up on whatever I am doing and I would start cleaning up. But if something is out of place then I wouldn't mind too much. However, if the whole room was messy, I would get the hoover and clean up the whole place, and that would take me 2 hours at least.

Another thing I would add is us being able to decorate the room. We could put posters or stickers. Anything that would help brighten the room. We should also have a 'Quote of the day' type of thing. It could help boost the motivation and self-confidence in someone. If someone brought in quotes that they thought were really good, then they could bring that in, and we could put in on a bulletin board.

In conclusion, I think that my ideal Gifted and Talented room would be filled with really nice decorations, it would be comfortable, have a positive vibe, and organized. Now everyone doesn't have the same hopes as me. So I won't get too disappointed if my room isn't built, or doesn't exist. I just want the room to be filled with happy bodies.

    Wouldn’t you want that too?

  6. Everyone is unique. They have specific features that make them differ from everyone else. For example, I have light skin, unlike my friend who has dark skin. People even have different opinions. They might like cheese and think it tastes good and the other might think that it is absolutely disgusting. In that case, we all have different opinions about seventh grade. And different perspectives on our ideal G+T classroom.
What's the fun in sitting in a hot classroom doing nothing but work. The teachers should make the classroom's atmosphere exciting. I mean, who would like to sit in a classroom doing nothing but sweating to death. I know I wouldn't want to. But how can teachers make classrooms exciting? If I was a teacher, I'd make sure my students were having fun in my classroom. As a student, I'd say that an awesome teacher should have us do a lot of group work, fun projects, and not too much homework. Yes, for me, homework is a big problem. I get so much, it takes me about 1 to 4 hours max to do all my school work. Sometimes it might be more or less, but you get my point. And some teachers make us do work all classroom. It definitely isn’t fun. Top that with the heat and you get a classroom full of boring. Yay! (Sarcasm). So what would be my ideal G+T classroom?
In my ideal G+T classroom, we’d definitely have a fun time. We should have comfy stuff and have no desks whatsoever, unless it’s to keep chromebooks from falling out of hands. We can fundraise to buy cheap comfy stuff, like pillows and all that. Our classroom should have a unique and fun environment. We can have fun socializing and working at the same time. Our teacher can put some music on and we’d be having tons of fun. That’s my idea, we have fun and we get work done. Now, how is that going to happen?
Like I already said, we can have a cozy classroom atmosphere and we would be very organized. Along with that, music would work out perfectly. Within this atmosphere we should all have a positive attitude. That will keep us all happy. Negative attitude shouldn’t be tolerated. To make our classroom cozy, we could add comfy things, like maybe cushions. Things in that range would be awesome. We’d be relaxed and our room would be a no stress zone. That would be the best thing ever. Wouldn’t you agree? It would be the best part of the day, and everyone in G+T would find it the best part about Monday ( even though in my opinion, Mondays absolutely suck).
That would be my idea of an ideal G+T classroom. In a short description my G+T classroom sounds like this… A neat & comfy organized classroom that everyone loves, and they’ll enjoy being in it. No negativity will be tolerated and we will all be happy individuals. That is my perspective of an ideal G+T classroom.

  7. My Ideal G&T Classroom
    By: Krish Desai
"The more you like yourself, the less you are like anyone else, which makes you unique." - Walt Disney

Everyone has their own opinions, making them unique in their very own special way. They have different thoughts, ideas, and styles. Each and every person has a unique opinion. Everyone’s opinion differs.  They have their own perspective of looking at things, like someone might actually like Donald Trump as president, others might say Hillary Clinton is a  better president. So therefore, I will say what I think is an ideal G&T classroom, using my opinions, ideas, and my experience.

I would like an enormous room for a G&T classroom, like 100 feet by 100 feet, at least. With a big room you would have your own personal space, and not worry too much about smashing into each other. I would like the ceiling very high up, maybe between 10-25 yards. (Yes, it is a very big room!) I would like a corner for supplies. Sometimes we run out of supplies like paper and pencils, and the teacher must carry a huge cart filled with supplies! Instead of that, why not have the supplies all in one place where everyone can get to them, and you could get whatever you need. No longer will the teacher have to carry around a bunch of supplies for us - it will all be in one organized place in a corner of the classroom, so everyone can find any supply quickly. I would like another corner devoted to snacks, food, and water. Thinking minds get hungry! Food and water will restore our energy and improve the classroom mood. So the students could think better and not have stomachs growling in the middle of working. Of course we will have to have a limit or people will go overboard. Next, I would like another section devoted to cabinets - you can store whatever you want here and not have it disturbed. On top of that I would like activities - games, brain teasers, crosswords, puzzles, word finds, stuff like that, so you won’t get bored after finishing the classwork. I would like another place devoted to electronics. These electronics will be really high-tech. I want touch screen computers, the latest chromebooks and I-phones as well as laptops. I want all of these electronics to be the latest fashion with strong wi-fi. This will help us do our research and work. 10 chromebooks just doesn’t cut it for such a big class. I would like desks for personal working and tables for group work. Comfortable chairs and desks. These desks have their own pencils and papers and a lot of space to store everything - it even has a water bottle holder. Seat warmers would be nice. That’s basically it for the classroom itself.

I would also like bright lights and a way to lower them like you can on a phone. So the room will have a perfect amount of light. Sometimes it gets too bright in a classroom because of the sun and you have to turn the shades down - now a little electronic thing could do it for you - kind of like Cubic or Watson. I would like security patrolling us all the time so we feel safe and protected. I would like big windows and an A.C. with fans as well. I want the place squeaky clean and non - rusty with no pipes. I want a sparkly floor with clean air that smells good. I would also like a heater, if it gets too cold. Maybe our own music to help us work. Music organizes the mind and makes your mood better as well. Finally, I would like posters and decorative floors and walls. For some reason it helps me concentrate and think. Plus it’s nice to look at. There are many more additional things I could add with all these new gadgets and inventions coming out, so it would be nice if we got all the latest things all the time. That basically covers every additional item you could add to the G&T room. So that would be my ideal G&T room.

  8. Ideal- existing only in the imagination; desirable or perfect but no likely to become a reality.
There are a lot of things in this world that you might want to change. Whether it be the style of your room, or your bad habit or procrastination, no one is ever completely content with their life, always striving to do more, see more. Yet, some people say that they are content with their life. How? If it is impossible to satisfy all of your wants and needs, how can you be content in life? The answer is to work towards perfection one step at a time. Total perfection is unrealistic, but contentment is close enough. To pampering yourself with a present now and then, to simply waking up 10 minutes early every day to get ready, you can inch towards that faint vision of what you want your world to be like.
School takes up 7-8 hours of your day, depending on whether or not you have any after school activities. That’s about 2/3 of your day sitting in a classroom. I don’t know about you, but if I wanted to create an ideal version of my life, I would start in school. Plenty of classrooms that I’ve been in, whether it be from elementary school or middle school, were too rowdy and out of control for us to even get anything done. I really despise it when the kids don’t listen at all the responsible adult in charge, and think that they know exactly what to do.
Part of my ideal GNT classroom would be having a careful balance between a comfortable environment and a controlled one. Many people say that they would love it if they could sit with their friends, do more partner work, etc. I think that although it is great to have a fun and close classroom, you can’t forget that this is school, that you are here to learn, not to frolic around and play telephone with your friends. An example of this would be doing group work, but stopping yourself from becoming too noisy and rowdy. I always listen to the ever increasing voices of my classmates, and can almost predict when the teacher will firmly tell us to keep our voices down. This really annoys me, because sometimes it seems that no one else is aware of just how loud they are being.
Another thing that I would include in my ideal GNT classroom is an organized schedule. A classroom where everyone is aware of what they are doing, the deadlines for projects, details on the essays, and other classwork. A neat, simple classroom setup with materials put where they are supposed to be. Something simple, like having a set of laptops in the center of the desk when we walk in. Little things are what make up the big things. Sometimes last year, I would find I had no idea what the homework was, or what we were supposed to be doing in some classes. Easy to say, those times were not enjoyable at all, and no one in my ideal classroom would have to experience that. You need to have a clear concise view of the topic to be able to do good on assignments and such, so organization is definitely key.
I know that a lot of these suggestions for my ideal classroom are farfetched and are much harder to do then it sounds. However, ideal is basically a synonym for perfect, and we all know that perfect doesn’t exist. But like I said earlier, the way to start creating your ideal world is to go one inch at a time, and some of these ideas might just add an inch to your ideal world. Inch by inch, I hope we all get as close to our ideals as we possibly can.
How far away are you from yours?

  9. My ideal G’n T classroom...It's surprising that I haven’t really thought about it before but now that I think about it, there several qualities that make up a ideal classroom. G'n T is a very honorable course and to be part of it is a gift itself. I see G'n T and its students as a group of unique people. And of course for unique students you need a unique classroom. I do realize that teachers take a lot of effort decorating their classroom but I would like to suggest a few things, I, as a student, think an ideal classroom requires.

The first and foremost quality an ideal classroom is organization, neatness, cleanliness and brightness. It is extremely distracting to work in an environment where it is dark and messy, the darkness weakens your eyesight and makes you feel sleepy or distracted. In a neat place, you feel motivated, willing to work and makes you feel... CLEAN! The brightness makes you feel fresh, focused and enthusiastic towards your task. Neatness also counts in room decor, for example, if you pack your walls with all sorts of posters it would be overwhelming for a student to concentrate. Neatly organized (means spaced out and only a few!) with wisdom related and light - hearted posters can enhance the room. Organization is the most important thing at any location, neatly stacked books, all tools in labeled containers, evenly spaced desks and a calm area to relax ( some comfy bean bags or pillows would be the icing on our cake).

The second little addition would be to - loosen it up! In G’n T, we have extra work, projects, assignments, blogs, and makeup work. During all of this, we do need some time to relax, stretch out, do nothing for a moment - just stand up and dance like you never did before. There should also be times when we just go off topic and talk about random things or sing and dance to lighten up the mood. Or while working, putting on some relaxing music would help to stay calm. Some teachers think that silence in class help the students focus but that is not true at all, it creates breaks in interaction with peers and teacher - so instead of just silently working or reading, some interaction would lighten the mood up! In addition, there should be times when we stay focused, keep silence and work with all concentration but there should be only few of those (maybe ¼ of the times). Interaction is an important part of life so if we start from school, it would be easier in future.

Finally, comfort. All students should have the comfort and confidence not only in a class but everywhere, the comfort and confidence to ask any question, comment, compliment, and have some fun. All students should give and earn respect to and from everyone. All should have the comfort to ask any peers for help, ask the teacher for help, ask any and everything that they find necessary. Nobody should feel left out, lonely, or uncomfortable. That is a key quality every classroom should have because without it students can not possibly participate ... anywhere!
In conclusion, organization, neatness, cleanliness, brightness, lightness in mood, comfort, and respect are a FEW qualities my ideal G'n T classroom should have. These are just a few because there are many other qualities that I don’t have at the top of my head right now, but I can guarantee that these are not all. G'n T comprises many different personalities so the qualities of this ideal classroom should fulfill the expectations of all the diverse personalities, that is why it must consist of variety of qualities. Although, these are the most important factors of a G'n T classroom. It is a clear fact that since each one of us are unique, it is obvious that my ideas, suggestions, preferences and opinions can be different from my peers so this is only what I think my ideal G'n T classroom should be like. Let’s end this blog with a positive thought, “ Embrace your individuality. Love what you love without worrying about judgement.” - Be Unique!

In their lives, everyone has preferences. Some may prefer Selena Gomez’s music to Taylor Swifts’, and some might prefer shorts to jeans, and others may prefer pizza to spaghetti. At the same time, everyone prefers a different kind of classroom, and environment. Some people may prefer a totally super neat, organized classroom, where everything is done in an orderly fashion, while others might prefer a lenient teacher with a crowded and loud classroom. Either way, that shows that you have preferences for your teacher, classmates, and how the classroom is run.
Personally I prefer classrooms that aren’t so organized that the teacher has a person to pass out the folders, and a person to pass out papers, and this and that. Also, I don’t like classrooms where the teacher makes you do a do-now and everything. I personally think that when you come into a classroom, this is your time to relax and just have fun until the teacher comes in and starts the class. But, at the same time, I don’t like a classroom that is a crazy zoo with yelling all over the place because you cannot get any work done that way. So, I would prefer the G&T classroom to be lenient, fun, exciting, and not a boring time where you know what is going to happen each day. For example, 10:00-10:15 is do-now time, 10:15-11:45 is textbook and worksheet time, and etc. That ruins the fun of the classroom when you know what is going to happen every single day and it is a repeat.
The G&T classroom itself should be organized, but not so organized that everyone is in order. I don’t understand why some teachers place their students in alphabetical order in rows. That gets so annoying because if your last name is one of the first letters, you sit in the front, and if they are at the end, you sit in the end. I mean, I understand that teachers don’t let students sit together because they will goof around and not get their work done, but alphabetical order gets really annoying. I don't like classrooms where the seats are in rows because that seems too organized, and you really can't interact with classmates and talk to them. I am kind of okay with placing students in groups. The classroom should be organized so that the student know where the different supplies are in the class, and aren’t searching everywhere because the supplies are strewn everywhere in random places.
You can also tell what kind of a teacher a teacher is by how they place the students. A teacher with students in alphabetical order in rows likes everything to be easy for him/her, and that you focus on your work. A teacher with groups that she picks shows that she wants you to help each other and likes when you guys help each other. Then, lastly, a teacher that allows you to choose where you sit shows that she trusts you to not goof around too much with your friends that you sit with. Still, these are my observations and opinions, and doesn’t always work with all teachers. I would like a G&T classroom where the teacher lets us pick where we want to sit, and lets us sit in groups and interact with each other. That shows teacher-student trust.
The G&T classroom should be a friendly environment where everyone is okay to express their feelings, and aren’t made fun of later on. Everyone should be treated fairly, and the teacher shouldn’t have favorites. The students should look forward to G&T class because it is a privilege, and not dread it because they can’t express their opinions in different topics without being made fun of.
Now it’s time how the teacher should be. The teacher herself should be funny, nice, caring, and at the same time know when to put his/her foot down. She should have a sense of humor, and know how to have fun with the class. She should also teach us to the best of her capability, and make sure we understand what she is teaching.

Lastly, it’s time for the students. Well, the students in the G&T classroom should know how to respect their classmates when they are talking or respect the teacher when she is talking, and should treat others in the classroom the way that they want to be treated. They should know when to joke around, when to be serious, and also know when they crossed the limits. All the students should support each other, and work together in the G&T classroom without hesitation. Everyone in the classroom should know each other, and be able to work with everyone in the classroom, not just their friends. If everyone knows each other and accepts each other, the classroom would be fun, but if people are too uncomfortable to work with other people, the classroom won’t be as fun of joy as it would be otherwise.

  13. My Ideal G&T Classroom
    By: Sneha Saravanan

When it comes to imagination, I think that out of 100 points, I would get 200 points!!! I’m always creative when it comes to stories, essays, projects, crafts, decor, organization, and more! If we had our very own Gifted and Talented room, I would have so many ideas on how to organize the room and how students follow the rules and procedures.

First off, for organization and decor, we should have a couple of beanbag chairs and some pillows for when we have reading time, brainstorming sessions, or just to have relaxing time! It’s really uncomfortable for me to be sitting in hard chairs all day, so it would be really nice if we had something comfortable and soft to sit on for a while. Another idea is to put some inspiring posters, but not too many. You don’t want a classroom that is entirely covered with posters! We should also have the desks arranged in such a way that is easy to get in and out of the desks. A couple of years ago my teacher always changed the formations of desks each month. One formation DID NOT work out, and it was very hard to get in and out of the desks every day. We should have some storage boxes, for any activities, books, and any other stuff we need to store for G&T. One last organization idea is to have a homework board. I usually know what my homework is through the homework board. But some teachers don’t put in on the board, and sometimes when I look in school wires, it’s not there either! I would waste so much time calling each and every one of my friends, asking them what homework we had in our classes, and it’s so frustrating! This is what I think we should do in terms of organization and décor.

Next, for rules and procedures, we should make the class fun, but productive at the same time. We can be put in groups, but we have to talk in an indoor voice, so that you and others can work peacefully, and you don’t have to work while half the class is chuckling so loud that your ears explode! We should always be polite to others, not use foul language, and be respectful. We should raise our hand when we want to say something, instead of calling out. We should also have procedures every day from the beginning of the class to the very end. We should first come in the classroom and take a seat. One person from each table will go and get everyone’s folders. Next we should spend five to ten minutes to do writing in our journals. Then we should spend about an hour doing our main project. Then we should spend 15 minutes to read/relax in our seats or on beanbag chairs and pillows, and finally, clean up, put away the folders, and get ready for the bell to ring. This is what I think we should do in terms of rules and procedures.

Some additional ideas that we can do is that since we do a lot of work and projects every day, we should have some fun activities to do at the end of the day. For example, we can play a game, dance to an Ariana Grande song, and more!!!

This is my vision of my ideal G&T classroom. If we actually get a classroom like this in the future, I would be really delighted and I think that my other classmates would like my imaginary classroom as much as I do! If we do get a new room, but my ideas are not built in it, I wouldn’t be upset, because every room is unique in every way, and that’s all I need.

  14. Details for my Ideal G&T classroom.

There is no right or wrong in opinions. They are just opinions. Everyone is unique, everyone is different, and everyone has their own, different, opinions.

“You have to be unique and different, and shine in your own way.” -Lady Gaga

So all of these are my personal opinions on how an ideal classroom should be. This is how I think an ideal G&T classroom should be:
I personally like a friendly and fun environment for a classroom in general. I also, feel like the classroom should be pretty, neat, and organized. Messy classrooms don’t really go with the concept of G&T. Usually when you look at messy people you think either that they have a lot of work and don’t have the time to organize themselves (which happens rarely), or they are too lazy to organize themselves (which happens all the time). So, I feel like the classroom should be clean for G&T standards.
The class’ study materials should be engaging and it shouldn’t be confusing like some of my world history class’ study material where they give you the assignment and never explain what to do. That is one of the things I really hate when the teachers half explain things or NEVER explain things!
Sometimes teachers leave the classroom to get something and never tell what to do or where they are going. This is another thing I hate a lot! Why can’t they just have their stuff ready before class starts there are lessons plans for a reason, you need to have your stuff, you need to know your stuff! This is one of my BIGGEST pet peeves! The teachers of the G&T classroom should have a pretty good understanding of how the students’ mindsets work. The teachers, for me, are a big component of an ideal classroom, so are the students because the teacher directs the class and the students follow the teacher.
In an ideal classroom, students should be respectful towards their classmates. Sometimes in other classes, the usually annoying students make fart noises, and blame it on other students! I don’t want that in my ideal classroom! Students, sometimes talkback to the teacher in a VERY rude way and that is bad for the teacher and the other classmates. Personally I feel it’s pretty insulting and I’m sure all teachers must have faced this one day or the other with one student or the other. And I know for SURE that this is definitely a very big deal in my ideal classroom. In my ideal classroom, there should be respect for self, respect for others, and respect for the teacher, too. I feel like it is the most important thing in my ideal classroom.
Another component in my ideal classroom is the area around the classroom should be calm and quiet. If it is too noisy the students won’t be able to concentrate and focus on their work. If our classroom is right next to the cafeteria we would not be able to concentrate on our work at all, it would be so noisy! So one more component for my ideal classroom will the location it is placed in, it should be in a calm and quiet place.
All in all, MY ideal classroom should be a pretty looking place, it should be neat and clean, and it should be in an area away from chaos. My ideal classroom should give everyone respect and everyone should be treated nicely and equally. My ideal G&T classroom should have at least ¾ of these components to be my most favorite class! And the 2 weeks I have spent in my G&T classroom do suggest that I’m surely going to a blast this year!

  15. My Ideal G&T Classroom
If it was my choice to pick were the desks belonged and what type of work the teacher would give, I have the best ideas. First let’s talk about our G&T classroom right now. Actually have to admit, G&T is the only class we don’t have a DO NOW!!! In every class, as soon as you enter in, look at the board and get to work. Not in G&T, though. In G&T we wait for the teacher until she comes, and until that we can have some time the chit chat with our friends. And in G&T it’s not like you just sit there the whole time and watch the teacher teach a lesson on boring things every day. Most of the block we are always working with our partners, it’s only a few times where we have to hear the teacher speaking. We have a lot of the block to interact with our peers. We get to do a lot of projects together with our friends which makes it a lot better for us because we get to share our ideas and possibly get more ideas from our friends to make our work even better. Even though there are all these awesome things in our G&T classroom, I can still think of ways we can improve.
First, I think that the school kind of forgot about G&T because why don’t we get a separate room. I would like to have our own room so that we can have a room only filled with our G&T stuff. Having our own room would mean we would be able to hang up our work. (On the walls, windows etc.) When we have G&T on Mondays it is hard especially for the teacher to get from room to room. Every block after 2nd block she has to travel the whole school. On top of that she has a cart to roll around in the jammed hallways.
Second, I would like to talk about the students that are learning in these classrooms. When they come to class half of them are unprepared. And some of them don’t even finish their homework. They just don’t care about learning. All they do when they go home is spend all their time doing literally nothing, and when they come to class they don’t even have their homework done. They don’t even really care what grade they get on their homework and at the end their report cards. Maybe they should start trying more instead of waiting until high school and then pressuring themselves to do well.
The last and final thing that I would like to change in our G&T classroom is how comfortable it is. Obviously we can’t afford massaging chairs for everyone, but at least we can get a comfy mat with pillows and all, reserved for reading. Everyday 5 kids can go on the carpet and then keep rotating. This is a very great idea because everyone can have a great time while reading.
This is what my ideal G&T classroom would be like.
P.S. I would also like everything to be NEAT.

  16. A classroom is a place where you should feel comfortable being and excited to learn. The environment should feel fun and enjoyable. Especially in G&T where you should be trying to enhance your learning experience there should be different tools to help you do that. A classroom should have a few aspects, so that you can have the best experience. Starting off, the classroom should be an organized place without clutter. I have had classrooms that were very tight together, and it was hard to even slide out of your desk. I didn’t enjoy it at all because you have to ask other people to move their desks. The classroom we are in now is very neat and clean and something I enjoy. The classroom shouldn’t have anything blocking ways to walk around the classroom. It should feel very open. When it feels open, the environment seems much better. You don’t feel confined in one place to stay. You can move around much more freely. When I say move around, I don’t even mean to get up and walk. I mean that you can move your desk a little and not be cluttered.

Second, the classroom should be decorated a little in a helpful way. I love when teachers decorate the room with inspirational posters. I read them and think about how they connect to me. It’s especially helpful when you are having trouble with something and you read them, and one of them helps you get through it. Sometimes when I’m taking a hard test, I read one of them and realize I’ll figure it out and it will be over soon enough. I also enjoy when things that you may have done in class is hung up. It makes you look at it and feel good. One other thing that’s nice to see is a quote written somewhere that is changed every so often. It makes the atmosphere much better. Sometimes in classrooms there is tension and it doesn’t good at all. In classes with inspirational things around it, it’s a much calmer atmosphere. Also, bright colors make a good addition to the room. For me, seeing bright colors makes me feel like the class is going to be bright and good. It feels like a happier room too.

In our G&T classroom it would be nice to have different things that test your mind. It’s fun to have hard challenge sometimes. If we had books full of logic problems that would be so cool. Once you finish doing what you have to you can try and solve a few. It would be a good way to keep our minds going. Another thing that would be fun is having hands-on things. Instead of just discussing things, experiment with them. If we had different materials to use and figure out the solution to things with, that would be so cool. Some of the things I mentioned we already have and I really enjoy it. The other things I hope can be implemented at some point.

  17. I always tried to find the best classroom. The classroom that makes me happy and everyone else too. A classroom that lets me learn and relax at the same time. A G&T classroom that is ideal and works for every single student. This classroom will be safe, fun, and educational. It will be a great G&T classroom and will help each and every single student out.

My classroom will have room for everyone to move freely and work at their comfortable pace. We will have more chromebooks, supplies, and a bookshelf. There will be enough supplies for everyone - paper, glue, scissors, crayons, posters, and more. This classroom will be clean and safe for all of the students in the classroom. The classroom will be fun and entertaining, but educational as well. The desks would be very big for the students so all of their books can be safely stored under it, and they will be able to comfortably work. Sometimes, if the kids desire they will sit on bean bag chairs or the floor or carpet. All the students will be kind and helpful. The students will work with their peers and help them as much as possible. It will be a very caring community. The teacher will help all the students to his/her ability or knowledge. The place will be decorative, filled with posters, and holiday cheers. The classroom would be filled with joy and hard work. The teacher would be very lenient but as times challenging. A teacher who pushes his/her students to do their best or think out of the box.

The work in the class would be very interesting. It wouldn’t be like an everyday homework days. The work in the class would consist of fun, exciting classwork and small amounts of homework. In the class, there would be fun review games, serious but short note taking, many projects, and lots of group work. Well, I think things like projects test your limits and group work allows you to work better with other people. The class would have some tests but the students would be well-prepared. The class would also use a lot of technology and online services. It would use things like google classroom and fun online websites. I would also use competitive websites where students would battle against each other in a learning experience. During in class there would be no do now. I never liked a do now. I prefer to rather do something else in the beginning. Whenever there is a test the class would be well prepared. They would have a whole weekend to study following with many review games. Including things like Kahoot and others. For homework it would be rather light. The students would only have homework on Tuesdays and Thursdays and sometimes Friday if there is a test.

Well that would be my ideal and best classroom. With this classroom there would be a fun and educated year full of great memories. Wouldn't you want your classroom to be like that to?A perfect classroom. Now what is your ideal classroom? What would you have in it? My name is Anuj Patel and I approve this message.

  18. Everyone in the world has their own preferences in just about anything. If I had my own Gifted and Talented classroom to teach in, I would make it look encouraging enough for students to actually feel the strong, passionate desire to actually want to be there. This way, a G&T class will be unique, compared to other classrooms.
The first concept I want to focus on while decorating the room is to make it look more enriching. The G&T class I attend every Monday is called “Enrichment.” This indicates that my peers lucky enough to be in this class deserve some weekly knowledge, whether or not it relates to the limited school subjects. For example, one of the walls should contain a bulletin board containing a new fun fact pinned every class session. It would also be resourceful when there are upcoming projects to complete, such as an oral presentation. Another poster or board could give everyone tips for creating a successful project, or even ways to calm down before you present your project.
Next, I would want something relating to the common “Do-Now,” which is there in almost every class I attend at Iselin Middle School. A brain teaser worksheet could really stimulate a student’s mind with engaging and enriching techniques and cleverness skills. Just this could increase the G&T student’s liking for the course, and even a feeling of belonging in the midst of his or her peers. In my opinion, I believe that this will refresh the student’s mind to challenging material ahead. Another addition I want to add to the base curriculum is the idea of “stations.” Stations are specific areas in the classroom where students take turns to complete individual work in that place. That way, everyone will be efficient and successful in their various tasks given. It’s not just for school either; these qualities and skills will sufficiently help in the future.
After that, I also want to add essential parts to a classroom, such as an air conditioner or a working heater system. At Iselin Middle School, most classrooms lack at least one of these, possibly due to a lack of funds. With work and efficiency, our hard work to raise the money may be able to pay off for something that we will all enjoy. This will also teach us to be responsible, hard-working, and even be more prompt and not procrastinate often!
Finally, I would choose to have other people design certain other parts of the classroom. Doesn’t everyone deserve to have their own voice in the real world? I strongly believe that this new idea would be innovative enough for everyone to enjoy the Gifted and Talented Program. For example, we could add new resources, such as books and magazines, which will assure a boon in our learning benefits. Perhaps other students may request additional types of chairs and maybe even the possibility of new types of desks. No one’s opinion is the only one considered “correct,” and so I wish to make everyone satisfied in my ideal classroom.
In conclusion, I simply want my ideal G&T classroom suitable for everyone. If we fail to get along, we cannot be successful in the various tasks that we perform every day. One of the main reasons we go to school is to learn how to cooperate with each other, and respect each other’s ideas. I believe that this is the sole theme of any Gifted and Talented classroom, regardless of what grade you are in.

  19. An ideal classroom is required to contain things that will be beneficial for both the students to learn efficiently, and for the teacher to be able to teach efficiently. All classrooms have requirements, big and small, each and every one of which we have to accept and give to the students as a sign that the students will receive the perfect learning environment for them to live and work freely in.
My ideal classroom would have to fulfill the needs and expectations of all the students and the teacher. It should be an environment for students to freely express their feelings and to feel safe and free from the outside world. They should be able to have access to technology as well as other items and utilities that will help the students learn efficiently and effectively, while allowing the teacher to teach in the same way and in the same manner. Technology is both the present and the future, and by this, I mean that technology will just keep expanding and growing, but along with the growth of technology, we must not lose the expansion of our knowledge.
A classroom must be comfortable for the students and for the teacher, if not both the teacher and the students will not be able to teach and learn correspondingly. This is why I believe that students and teachers should be sitting, and working in an environment that is comfortable and suitable for them. Our seats should have comfortable padding to relax our muscles after a tense, stressful, and hard day of work through writing, thinking, etc. We should have the right to wear blankets during each and every one of our lessons in our G&T class.
In my ideal G&T classroom would contain color throughout the room. There would be posters covering the entire room, along with a wide variety of coloring and writing utensils. My ideal G&T classroom should resonate one iconic word, fun. Any classroom has to be fun. Without fun, there can’t be work. Working and having fun go hand in hand, without one of them, there can’t be the other.
Organization is one of the keys to a good life. When you are organized, you feel calmer for you know where your tools are, and you know what you need to take out, and where that thing you need to take out is. When someone is organized, that person has some peace of mind to think freely with nothing clouding their minds.
In an ideal classroom, I believe that the most important requirement is that students need to be work-oriented and respective towards their fellow peers. If the students are not work oriented, the main purpose for having school is not met. Then why should we even have school, we might as well just stay at home and receive the same results. In an ideal classroom, respect should be shown in every single way possible. If one treats his peers with respect, then his peers will treat him with respect as well. This is what I believe is required in the ideal G&T classroom.

  21. Everyone thinks differently. Someone likes candies better than ice cream, while another person like ice cream better than candy. We all have different opinions. In the same way, everyone thinks and has different ideas about their ideal G&T classroom. What type of G&T classroom would I want?

First of all, the G&T classroom should have at least a fan, a good fan that affects everyone, if not AC. I understand that adding air conditioners is a lot of money, but adding fans is not that expensive. I don’t mean the fans on the ceilings, I mean the fans that you can buy in a normal store that you keep on the ground. Secondly, I want a separate classroom that is just for G&T. It would feel cool to have a separate classroom just for G&T. That classroom would include all types of things that are made specially for a G&T classroom.

G&T is for gifted students. It is called Gifted and Talented for that reason. The gifted and talented student’s classroom should have different activities and interesting projects. I think that an ideal classroom for G&T should have enjoying activities like puzzles. There should be puzzles like Sudoku and other number puzzles. I think that the class should be full of challenging puzzles including jigsaw puzzles. We should have a lot of hands-on activities. There should be enginnering games where you can build different things using your mind and by being creative. It will make classes more fun and we will be able to talk and do team work. The classroom should be full of projects and fun! I think that the classroom should be divided. We should have the classroom set into different sections, like one is for the sciency people, one is for the engineering lovers, one section for the math lovers, etc. One corner of the classroom should be a small library. There should all types of books and that corner should be designed with rugs and nice chairs. With an area like this, everyone would be very enjoyed. I personally think that the classroom should have a lot to do with engineering. Our classroom should have robotic kits, a lot of them. It would also be very cool to have a robot in the class. A cool robot to have would be an MiP robot or a WowWee CHiP robot. Talking about all this engineering, our class should be full of K’nex and Legos. Students that are smart and creative can make many different things out of these, like mazes and sculptures, etc. Also, I think that the classroom should have a lot of Rube Goldberg machine projects. That would be great!

Technology. Many classrooms do not have good projectors or good technology. G&T should be a modern classroom full of nice and good working technology. In the classroom, there should be laptops or a couple of desktops, so the students can do interactive things or do their projects on them. We should have posters of interesting topics all around the classroom. Information everywhere. This is my view of a real gifted and talented classroom.

  22. An Ideal G&T Classroom

Some might think that most classrooms are all like the rest and are exactly the same. They all consist of a few windows, some tables and chairs, a desktop, and of course a very intelligent teacher. But it's not always like that. Take for instance schools in Africa. They don't have any windows! Imagine going to school without seeing the bright sun or feeling the cool wind. All you can stare at is the wall (and trust me, that gets boring)! We're lucky to have a good education, good schools, and awesome teachers!
First and for most, neatness! I really care about organization! I have all my books organized from alphabetical order for the author’s last name! And the dollar bills in my wallet are not only ordered from $1 to $5 and $10 (and so on)! I would like the books on the shelf to be ordered, the pictures to be straight, and all the wires connected to the computer to be sorted and not tangly (trust me when I say that wires shouldn't be tangly because have you ever tried untangling earbuds when it is dark)! Also, the teacher should be able to manage/organize class files, work, SGO tests, etc.
Next up, creativity! How creative the class is doesn't mean a wacky wall color like orange (although I do wish that would happen)! It means what features does the classroom have that make it stand out! What I would like is to have pictures and good saying and inspiring quotes! Some quotes I would like include:
“In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.”
    -Abraham Lincoln
“Coins always make sounds but paper money is always silent. So when your value increases, keep yourself silent and humble.”
    -Anonymous
“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”
    -Mahatma Gandhi
As our future is coming, we are getting very involved with technology. That's why, if we have a modern classroom, it will really benefit us. A modern classroom will have all up-to-date features and will aid us in our path education. Plus, in today's world technology is a BIG thing. Whether it's from the latest update on iOS, or the newest way to stream 4G LTE data. It's pretty cool how tech has increased so much over the years! And I'm big on techie stuff. Give me an iPad and I will give you a masterpiece of artwork! When I say tech in a classroom, I mean LED projectors, an Apple desktop, and chromebooks or laptops for each kid!
All in all, a classroom should be a suitable environment in which a student is applicable to progress in his/her studies. And not just me! It should be for everyone’s welfare! I have a feeling all of us bright kids have good thoughts on what our classrooms may be like! So if we combine our incredible, interesting ideas, we can make the NBC (Next Big Classroom)! All we would need is our imagination!

P.S. I would not mind if we added some lava lamps, comfy massaging chairs with popcorn in it, and some slidable video game screens for when we are done with work!!

P.S.S. If that does not work, I'm totally fine!

Everyone would like to have their own ideal classroom, teachers probably want a classroom where kids are always quiet, and do all their work. Students probably want a class where we play games, do fun projects, and get to talk all we want, with the most minimum amount of work. As a fellow student myself, I must live up to the students expectations for an ideal classroom, but I’ll give the teachers a break for once, and won’t make the class too much chaotic.
So, in my ideal class room there are three major rules: no bullying, focus on work, and have fun. The first rule is that we can’t bully, the reason being that, if we bully then we are showing bad character. Showing bad character means you don’t respect anyone, which is very mean. The worst part is, if you don’t respect others, they won’t respect you which means you’ll get even less popularity. Everyone should be respected and treated fairly, then there won’t be anyone going to the office because of a fight. Going to the office is the worst, because if you go to the office, everyone will think you are a bad person, and who wants to be friends with a bad person.
The second major rule is that we have to be very attentive and listen to the teacher. The reason I have this rule is because, if you play all day then you get bad grades. If you get bad grades the teachers screams at you, and if the teachers scream at you, then your parents get a phone call. If your parents get a phone call you’ll get yelled at again, that means you just got yelled at two times in one day. From my experience as a kid, getting in trouble and getting yelled at once is bad enough, twice I can’t even imagine.
The most important and final rule of my ideal class is to have fun. Having fun is important because it keeps a kids spirit on fire. There are many ways kids have fun to keep their spirit on fire, the most common way is by playing their favorite game or sport. For example if we don’t have fun in class, the kid comes home lethargic, then he is too lazy to even go outside. Then the kid will be lazy the next day at school and get bad grades. Imagine the class was having the second SGO test on that day and then all the kids fail because they are lazy, what will the principal think the teacher is teaching them.
Overall, I think that my ideal class idea will be appreciated by the students and teachers. It has a mixture of work and fun, the perfect combo in a class. The rules for my ideal class seem reasonable enough because it tells the students to have fun and do work. These rules lead to a friendly, fun, focused classroom. if all of us could follow these three rules at school, then I bet that our school would become 100 percent more better than it is right now.

  24. A classroom is a vast place full of kids who need to be educated in a friendly environment . Therefore, a classroom must include a few objects shall I say to make it an acceptable area. A better classroom means a better opportunity for children to focus on their books and projects instead of the gunk that surrounds a large class like G&T. Though, the perfect classroom must also include a good student formation and a good teacher form. By that I mean, each student should be content in the rules, and he/she shall be following them as a result. A teacher on the other hand must, create the rules, make sure they are fair and followed, and to make sure the students actually learn something throughout the course of the day. Unless it's review you should be learning something new on a normal daily basis.
First and foremost, you need to make sure your showing the classroom. By that I mean you must show multiple items proving you care. If the most you do is put one poster teaching the entire class, you are not doing your job well. Show that you care, write on the board or put up some paper. Do something to help the class develop all of their skills and learn to the best of their abilities. Make an objective list or something like that to show that you are putting an effort. Show off your classroom, and don't be afraid to brag to yourself about it The best way to make a great classroom is to show the students there is effort being put into teaching it. When they see something showing a sign of care, they will actually put in an effort to become the best student. Though live actions show more, words on a poster influence your ideas too.
Also, form the desks so every student has decent angle to work with, and yes I did say angle. Believe it or not, the way you are facing actually affects the way you learn. If you have your body towards the clock, your mind is mainly going to be focused on it, and chances are you will be fazed whenever the teacher is explaining something, as your conscience isn't even with the class, but instead just waiting to get out of class only to... do the exact same thing over again. You must put them on angle where it's not boring, yet it's not all learn, learn, learn, learn . A classroom just needs to have that to be success.
All in all a classroom must look good to be good. Items like that can't be at a nice level without having dressed its best. Please oh please support the cause of better looks for better measures. It is going to help the world become a education filled low-class less place to be . Everyone will be in enjoyment and the whole world will be one big pile of peace. All we need to do is break this wall separating us from it one classroom at a time, improving it!

  25. Awesome ideas, guys and gals. I so wish we had our own room where I could hang up your projects. We would certainly have a classroom library and comfy chairs for sure! I so wish I could give that to you, but I cannot. Don't worry, this year we will explore lots of different topics and I am anxiously awaiting more chromebooks.
