Blog #4 test grade due 12/31/16

December is a very special month. It's a time for sharing the warmth of family and friendship. What was the best gift that you ever gave or received. Why? This gift DOES NOT have to be a material item...

  2. The best gift someone has ever given me was my electric guitar. I really love to listen to music, I also like to play music. I used to play flute but I lost interest. I remember having a midget acoustic guitar that my dad bought for me. So I started going to guitar lessons, and all i had was a midget 15 fret guitar. My teacher asked,on the third or fourth class,"What type of music do you listen to?" I answered that I listen to a lot of pop rock and some metal music. He replied that those type of musicians use an electric guitar. He also added that I need to get something better than my tiny acoustic guitar. I kept on asking my father to buy me an electric guitar. Sometimes he'd say no only because they cost a lot of money and plus I'd need an amplifier. I needed it to play. My dad had a doubt that I'd stop playing it after a little while. Just like I did with my flute. I'd tell him that I wouldn't but he wouldn't really trust me on that statement. Personally, I wanted to buy a really neat looking designed guitar but those costed a lot. So I started shopping and looking online for guitars. If you went into my dad's Amazon account, on the homescreen it'd be showing you a bunch of electric guitars. I looked everywhere, except the Guitar Center's website. Yeah, I was trusting the internet to find me a good quality guitar. I had to wait for a while for my dad to say the magic words. "I bought you and electric guitar." I was really happy when said that. So after a few classes, my dad told me that he bought me an electric guitar! I really wanted an electric guitar and my dad bought me one. From then on I started playing a lot. I'd probably spend two hours playing that thing. I'd plug it in and start playing it on overdrive. I didn't like to play on clean mode much, I wasn't a big fan of acoustic music. Everyday, I'd take the iPAD and start to find songs on it so I could play them. They were hard but I got better over time. I challenged and pushed myself to try my best and play really well. My parents didn't really like my guitar at first but they didn't prefer a distorted guitar nor the sound it makes, but they got used to it overtime.
I put the acoustic guitar aside and got into my electic. I feel like my electric guitar got me interested in new music. I think it has been an influence on me. I was unsure about what I wanted to be when I grew up. My electric guitar kind of influenced me to become a musician. I'm being dead serious. I'd be teaching students how to play the guitar and I'd be getting payed. That'd be great. I also wanted to have my own pop rock or punk band. It may sound a little far fetched but I believe I could do it.
Not only is my electric guitar one of the best gifts someone has ever given me, but it also has been an influence. So, I look forward to buying new things for my electric guitar. One day, I sat down and started customizing a guitar on a website. If I bought it, it'd cost A LOT of money. But let's not get ahead of ourselves and just live with what I have. Shall we?

  3. Sometimes, several young kids and even teenagers take what they receive for granted. They don't understand how much it truly means to them until it's finally took away. In other words, there's countless numbers of materials beyond what they can see and hear, that can be a gift. I believe that that the best gift I received are my cousins, the gift I appreciate yearly.
Christmas isn't all about your new iPhone 7, or bundles of makeup that is hiding beneath the tree. Of course, it's what can bring a bright smile beaming across our faces. However, would any of that be possible without the love of your family, importantly your cousins, your lifelong best friends? Obviously not. Therefore, out of everything I receive for Christmas, the laughter, love, and even a little of pain I share with my cousins are what I cherish each year. Like all human beings, they can endlessly be annoying without even knowing it. They can pretty much be the biggest pain that I, somehow surprisingly can handle. On the other side on the grass, I can again jerk the same annoyance right back at them. Yes, sometimes we can get ourselves into silly arguments about little things but, it create a stronger bond that is unbreakable. We do get mad and upset at each other for something like “stealing my lunch seat”, but it's one of the most unbelievable thing to watch years later. At the end of the day, it's all love and laughters. We enjoy playing cards, telling riddles, kickball at the huge backyard, and even the great swims at the ocean. The fun never ends with them.
When I was in language arts class, the teacher told me to write down 3 things I would wish for. The very first thing I wrote down on my paper was, “ to have all 7 cousins live in a mansion together”. And till today, the dream still rings the bell in my head. I'm so thankful that we only live 1 hour away from each other, but a full house of us daily is always going to cheer someone up. Imagine all the things we can do together. Someday, I really wish my dream becomes reality.
Moreover, my cousins are the ones who go through the rocky roads with me. We all have our thunderstorm days, where nothing ever seems right and all you want to do is talk to one person who would really understand. Well, my cousins are my go to. They tell me the right things to do, and slowly gets me out of it. They're really who I can always count on. After all, there not all for the fun, but also the caring.
All in all, My favorite Christmas present are my cousins that I get each and every year. They may not have the loudest sound like beats speakers or have the best photographic camera skills, but they do try their best and has a heart like no other. Life is worth living, when you got the right people by your side.

  4. December is the time of year that brings the most joy to people of all races, cultures, and religions. December celebrates all types of holidays from Hanukkah for Jews and Christmas for Christians. But sometimes, children from the middle or higher class rage take advantage of the gifts they demand from their parents. I think kids should learn to be appreciative and grateful for everything they have and everything they’re going to receive. If we all stopped for a moment and looked around us, we would find endless things we have that others are not as fortunate to experience. For example, some kids become orphans at a very young age and end up at an orphanage home where they don’t get presents. They must live only having to hear about the tales of the Holidays. The joy it brings, the warmth of families, and even the satisfaction of being able to have a fulfilling meal. People, like close relatives or family friends, may complain constantly about having an outdated model of a car or phone when they should just be grateful they have those things in the first place.
What is the best gift I have ever received? The best gift I ever received was my younger brother. He was born when I had just turned four. I was excited to finally get someone to play with around the house, but little did I know it would take another whole year for him to just start walking. When I wasn’t helping my mom around the house, he was always trying new things, things that I had previously done. But just a little after one measly week of coming home, I had realized that he was stealing the spotlight from me. I would try to get my parents’ attention but it would never work. I had been used to being the center of attention for almost 4 years and this sudden change made me begin to develop a hatred towards my younger brother. But I had to say that there were pros, as well. When nobody was there, I would dress him up in my clothes, and I would play dress-up with him. Furthermore, my younger brother became my excuse for everything. “Why didn’t you finish your homework?” my mom would ask. “I was taking care of the baby!” I would say. As we grew up, I started being rather fond of him. We would talk to each other about problems and difficulties at school. I would help him with his homework and guide him to avoid the mistakes I made when I was his age. As a matter of fact, his achievements became mine. For instance, this year, my brother was one of the many students in the tristate area to get asked for a summer program called NY Pathways to STEM. I was prouder than him!
We tease each other and bother each other till days’ end. But in the end, we love each other. He loves to help me, even when it comes time to clean my room. Even though we have trouble getting along, that is what siblings do. Though we are so far apart in age, that doesn't stop us from being able to laugh and talk together. In fact, it brings us closer. I don’t know what my life would be like if he wasn't there. We get along, argue, and bother each other, everything that brothers and sisters do normally. But only with my brother do I really get that feeling that I know I have a best friend for life, someone who will stand by me no matter what. When I tease my brother, it is out of love and caring. My younger brother: fun, talented, and easy-going. He is truly the best gift I have ever received.

  5. Life: The Greatest Gift
    By: Krish Desai

Probably the best time of Christmas is the opening of your presents and gifts. It gives us so much joy to rip open our present and look inside to find something that we’ve always wanted, and that too we get it for free! What makes us the most delighted isn’t what’s inside of the present but the fact that someone got us a present. The present giver thought of us with love and warmth. The present giver cared about whoever he/she gave the present to. The present giver then receives thanks and some love back. It fulfills both  peoples hearts and makes both very happy. Each one of these presents will be treasured for life, and the next present will be even better than the last one. Present giving is a very fun and important tradition of Christmas.

Personally, the most treasured gift that was given to me was the gift that almost everyone forgets and almosts never values until their death. The best gift ever given to me was the gift of life. The gift of life allowed me to acquire more gifts. With life I can experience, think, see, feel, taste, and do much more. I can experience friendship, love, happiness, sadness, and so much more. I can think and image anything I want to. I have freedom to be whatever I want, I have rights and can make a change in the world. Thanks to the gift of life, I have a lovely family which includes a playful brother, a loving mom, and a caring father. I get to enjoy and earn with my family. Thanks to my gift of life, I get to see and make friends everyday. I get to hang out and have fun with my friends. I get to play games and talk to my friends. I get to enjoy different tasty foods such as pizza and ice cream. I can watch any movie or visit a beautiful place like New Zealand. The thing that I like most about life is all of life’s opportunities. I have the opportunity to learn new subjects. Everyday I go to school and come back full of knowledge. I have the opportunity to get into a great college and an even better job (although I still have to wait for that opportunity). Sure I might miss a few great opportunities, but the great thing about life is there will always be a new one! Life is a wonderful and treasured gift for me.

The gift of life was like a magical ticket - leading into a world of enjoyment and excitement. I have endless activities to busy myself with and am making choices that will lead me to who knows where. Life is all a big fun adventure. The long journey of life ahead of me will teach me. Life has given me physical and mental shape, and much more. The gift of life has given me access to endless amazing gifts, and I value that gift most of all.

  8. December is the month of giving, the month of Christmas. Every year on December 25, people give and get gifts from friends and family. These are the people who are fortunate. But, there are many people who are less fortunate and do not fall into this category. These are the people who are too poor to buy anything for anyone else and don’t get anything from anyone else because they don’t have any family or friends. For most, Christmas is the best day of the year when they have smiles on their faces from the spirit of the holidays. But for people who can neither afford to give gifts to others, or receive gifts themselves, Christmas is just another day in the long passing year. In order to spread happiness to these people we should be kind enough to donate whatever means we can. I am always thankful when I receive a gift, because I know that no matter who gave me the gift, what the gift is, or how much the gift cost, it came with love, sincerity, and kindness. I received a gift, and the fact that I received a gift is something that a lot of people only dream that would ever happen to them.

The best gift that I ever received was the bike when I was 6 years old. I had seen some of the older boys in the neighborhood who were all riding really fast. Being a little kid, I wished that if I got a bike like they did I could ride fast like them. So, still being in the illusion that one old man with a long, white beard and a red suit could travel the entire world in one night in a sleigh pulled by reindeer, 6 year old me wrote to Santa Claus about me wanting a brand new bike. I put my wish list in my stocking and prepared some milk and cookies for Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. I slept soundly that night, dreaming about the new bike I would get from Santa Claus and the thrills I would have riding with my friends. When I woke up the next morning, sure enough there it was a brand new bike, my first bike. But even though it was the best gift that I have ever received, it opened me up to a world of horrors, the deadly pains of learning. I was bruised, scraped and hurt badly by my new present while trying to learn to ride it. It was as if I was a bull rider, and my bike was the bull, with a mind of its own. You’re probably wondering why I love this gift so much. The reason is because when I did finally learn to ride it, I was drawn to its speed. The rush of excitement that it gave me every time that I went for a ride, the new friends I made while riding, and the happiness it gave me is what makes this simple bike the greatest gift that I have ever received.

  11. It’s the time of year where people are very happy, giving, and joyful. There is Christmas and Hanukkah, in which you give gifts and receive gifts from others. Even if people don’t celebrate one of those holidays, they are usually in a good mood because of everyone else. Over the years, I’ve gotten many gifts which I’m grateful for, and even if I don’t give tons of physical gifts to people, I do try and make people happy with my personality, smile, or sense of humor. The best gift I’ve ever gotten was a big stuffed panda from the American Museum of Natural History in New York. We went there for my fifth-grade class trip and it was a great day, especially the end of it.

Before we left, my group went to the gift shop, and as I was looking around I saw a big stuffed panda sitting there. I felt like it was looking at me and that I had a connection to it. My mom was chaperoning my group, which worked out really well. At first I wasn’t going to say anything, but as I kept walking around, I wanted it even more. After thinking about it, I told my mom that I wanted it, and after a lot of emotional debating, my mom got it for me. The panda was huge and so when we all met up before we left, everybody was in shock that I got it. The problem now was I needed a name for my panda. I couldn’t think of one, so one of my friends suggested Pablo and I loved it. On the bus ride back, Pablo sat right near me. I didn’t realize until I got home that there was a big space in my room, and so that’s where I sat him.

From that day on, Pablo has sat in the same place. I put my clothes on him, but he does more than that for me. When I’m sad, I know he will listen to me, no matter what the situation is. On rainy days when I have nothing to do I can cuddle with him and just read a book, play on my computer, or phone, and do my homework if I have any. I pretty much treat him as a real person and give him life. No matter how weird or crazy I become, I know he’s just watching and laughing. Pablo is like another friend. We share laughter, we share tears, and the thing we have most in common is the room we sleep in. I love Pablo so much, and I don’t know what I would do without him. It sometimes is calming to just look at his cute face. Every night before I go to bed I say goodnight to me, even if he doesn’t answer. I’m glad I know there is always someone who will be there for me through everything and who I love very much and who loves me too.

  13. Gifts are precious items that we give to someone who we really care about. Gifts that are given by close ones often touch your heart and become something very precious to you. One of my most precious treasures would be Abha. Sounds kind of cheesy but it's true! I have been with her since --- forever! I don't remember anything without her! It was this year I realized her importance. We do everything together, that's why we don't want to work with each other very often. We know each other's flaws and strengths. The irony is that we are completely different, I'm impatient whereas she could wait for hours. Im really clean but there was no time when Abha hasn’t eaten a chocolate and left her garbage in her bed. It is ironic that where I stop Abha begins but we still have no clue of it(of course I just realized! But that won't be remembered for long!). Some time (I honestly do not remember!) Abha and I had to live without each other for just one day. I don't know about her but that was the longest day of my life! I couldn't stop but think about her. To entertain myself, I decided to draw but even when I was drawing I drew hilarious cartoon Abha - I drew it so funny that when I showed it to her, she exploded! That day I realized how dependent I was on her. It's not just that why I treasure her so much. I adore her because she is completely honest with me. Whatever it is, good, bad, happy, sad, she will say it face flat (Sometimes it hurts!)! Although, there are those sometimes where she likes to be mischievous and annoy me with my own secrets. There are also times when she will come upto me and say, “I have your lanyard, if you wish for it to live I want some candy!”, and of course I would give it since I love my lanyard.
It is fun to have a sister your age even though most of the times she would annoy me the most but what sister in the world would not do that. So I have to get the best out of it (Most of the time I forgot my own advice!!). One question I get asked a LOT is, “do you guys fight?” and the answer is always pretty obvious, “YESS!!!!!”. We do fight a LOT everyday but most of the times they are pretty cute (from a watching point of view). There are fights on the cutest and most stupid things including “I will cross of the date on the calendar” from “I'm going to sleep on that side of the bed tonight”. There are also one of those debating fights on who is better but my cousins have a great time time watching us roast each other. And if the fight is on a serious issue like if she stole my lanyard then….there is me CHASING her!
There is a happiness involved in fighting with her because I appreciate the fact that I have someone to fight with, to share everything with, to chase. Im grateful for her (SOMETIMES).  Although, I was really shy to post this blog...I do not want her to read this (you know we are still sisters!), if she reads it she is definitely going to go like, “Awwww…you love me don’t you...I told you I'm your gift!”.  And at that moment I will be redder than a chilli!
But whatever I say, Abha is the most precious god’s-- not god -- my parents’ gift to me! And if by chance you are reading my blog, NO I DID NOT WRITE ALL OF THIS! MY CLONE IS WRITING THIS! (Did I spell Clone right?)

  14. People say money can’t buy happiness. They say having family next to you fulfills the need of having money. All of those people are right, but they are also wrong. With money, you can buy food which brings happiness. With money, you can give gifts to loved ones which also brings joy. The best gift I’ve ever received is my family. They’re the ones you bring me joy by giving me more gifts. Last year, I started to take interest in makeup and how It’s similar to painting expect the canvas is your face. Whenever I went to the mall, instead of walking toward clothes, I learned about foundations and concealers from the ladies behind the desks. I used to visit web pages of NYX and NARS to learns about eyeliners are mascaras. No one noticed my fascination with makeup except my brother. Everyone started to call me a diva just because I started to like makeup. That was so kind of them because their taunts drove me closer to my love. Then came October and my birthday which brought presents for me. My parents gave me hoverboard and iPad, but my brother gave me my very own makeup kit. I had makeup kits before this too, but they only contained glittery eyeshadows, mascaras, and pink lip-gloss. That seemed childish after I discovered primers and bronzers. The new kit had three shades of liquid eyeliners, two pods of gel liners, and pencil liners for tight lining. It had a primer, a foundation, a bb cream, a concealer, a bronzer and a highlighter pod. But what excited me more were the sets of nude eye shadows along with urban decay’s sets. It even had Michelle Phan’s illuminating serum. How cool was that? From that day on I started to experiment with different styles such as Kpop looks with its soft look to gothic with sharp cat eye to dark lips. Even though my mom is against” young girls being so fashionable”, I still love and cherish makeup because it’s like a friend to me. When I’m stressed out and acne decides to pop out, I just use a bit of concealer and hide the pimples and its redness. On the days I feel like bringing my inner self out, the makeup is always there to help me out and transform myself. I don’t use makeup everyday because I’m too lazy to wash my face every night to prevent acne, but I’d never leave the house without my lip-gloss or mascara. By the way I’ve written my fascination with makeup, anyone would consider me as shallow, but if this world can accept artists, why not makeup stylists. Anyways, the point is, My brother really cared and gave me what I wanted the most.

  15. December is the most special time of the year, on this time of the year you spend quality time with friends and family, and take a break from all the stress. December is special for many things, people all over the world have something they celebrate about- Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, and everyone has to prepare for the New Year! Everyone is in a good, festive mood at this time of year! Another reason this time of the year is special for some of us is lots and lots of presents! Some of us just want to take advantage of this time of the year to ask their parents for a fancy and expensive presents, but Christmas is not about collecting presents, Christmas is all about giving to others and what you give to others doesn’t have to be fancy and expensive, all it has to be is special and thoughtful.
Now, I know my sister wrote about me being her treasure and gift, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to write about her too, and since everyone is writing about something they got I thought I would write about something I gave, since Christmas is all about giving to others, I would like to share my own experience of what it feels like to give to others. (This is the best gift that I have ever given to someone.) Please keep in mind that I was really small, I was in 3rd grade, and I didn’t know how to wrap presents. Now, I knew my friend’s birthday was coming up so I wanted to get her a present even though in my school we weren’t actually supposed to give presents (It was a private school in India). I felt like a grown up because my mom had given me Rs.100 and told me to go to store and get something, it was a very big thing for me, so I decided to buy her something she would like, something special. After searching a bit I found a really cute Tweety keychain, I knew she would like it because I wanted it myself but I couldn’t have it so I figured she would like it. Later when I got home I decided to wrap the present myself, that was an adventure! After I had killed two rolls of wrapping paper my mom had had it, she handed me a gift bag and, “Get it done with!” Any encouragement here?! Then I decided to make it like a little goodie bag, and added a lot of new stationary- erasers, pens, mechanical pencils and highlighters, I also added her favorite candy bars and gum to it, and they I finally put in the Tweety! I was so satisfied with what I had done, it felt like the first official, and personalized gift I had ever given to someone!
The next day when I gave it to her, she told me that she absolutely loved the Tweety keychain! I was jumping inside myself! It is the greatest feeling when you decide to do something special for someone and they appreciate it! I’m glad that I have great friends who appreciate me and I was also glad that she liked the gift! I was really happy that day and I realized that the gift didn’t have to be fancy and expensive it just had to be thoughtful!

  16. ~~~ Jahnavi Yandapalli ~~~

December is a very special month, and it is the time of the year when Christmas comes by and so does New Years. On Christmas, everyone gets together, have fun, and exchange gifts too. For New Year’s Day, many people write resolutions on what they want to improve for the upcoming year, though many of their goals aren’t achieved because they don’t put that much work on it, or have the right motivation.
Getting back to Christmas, this is a holiday which first started a really long time ago, and it has a tradition that people give gifts to each other. I don’t really celebrate Christmas, and we don’t put up a tree or anything, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t receive gifts. A gift does not have to be a handheld item and be the most fashionable item out there, but can be really cheap and still hold a lot of meaning for someone. Some of my favorite gifts are my keyboard, the gift of trust, and my family.
I really like playing the piano, and I have been playing it for the past three years. When I first saw it in 3rd grade, I didn’t do much, but in 4th grade, I started playing some keys during school. I had asked my parents to take me to an instrument store, and I played the piano there for some time, and soon, after my parents saw that I had an interest in it, they bought me a keyboard, which is the same as a piano except it is portable and I can carry it around and is a bit smaller than a piano. For the first year or so, I was self-taught, and as I got better, we moved here, and my parents decided that I should take classes to get even better. As of now, I still play the piano, and love to either just make up songs on it or play some popular songs. Then every year, we have a concert in which each student plays a song on the piano and for the past two years, the songs my teacher chose for me to play were a hindi song named Mein Kahin and of course everyone knows this song, Hello.
Another memorable and important gift my parents gave to me is trust. This isn’t something that is achieved easily, and can break really easily. One little action is all that is needed to break the trust that someone has in you. For example, all you need to do is lie about something that isn’t even really important, and since trust is a really fragile, thing, it is lost.
For example, if you say that you got a 100 on your test instead of the 90 you got, the person who you lied to, once they find out that you lied to them, won’t trust you to tell you anything or to ask you anything anymore. This is exactly the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf, which I’m pretty sure everyone has at least heard of. In this story, there is a little boy who is a shepherd-boy and he says jokingly a few times, “Wolf! Wolf!” The first two times, the villagers ran to him to see what was the trouble, but there was no wolf, and the boy was just playing around. The third time though, there really was a wolf, but the villagers did not help the boy, and the wolf ate his sheep. The End. Not a nice story, but that can happen to anyone if they lie, even if the lie was just for fun and they were joking around. So, anyways, the gift of trust. My parents trust me to do the right things and to not lie to them. That is a really important thing because this means that they don’t have to check every single one of my papers and homework or what I am doing on the computer.

*******I am going to be continuing in the next post because the word count has been exceeded. ********

  17. ****** Continuing from post above *******

Last but not least, the gift of family. It is a huge gift that my family is still with me and that we have a good relationship. There are lots of stories of people’s parent's dying or their brothers or sisters going to jail. After thinking about those, the fact that my family is actually with me and that I see them everyday and talk to them is huge. There are lots of stories of orphans, or of kids and their bad relationship with their abusive parents.
I am always really annoyed of my brother. Take now, for instance. I tell my brother to stop jumping up and down, and he decides to run around the room, back and forth. The nerve of that boy!
As I was saying, we don’t really think about our family, but if we just think about many other people and their relationship with their family, we should be grateful. Same with my brother. I just get so annoyed some days, but as I think of it, how life would be without him.

  19. It is that time of year again when things from presents to holidays make a big impact on life. In the warm, cheery month of December, this is mainly what the controversy is all about. All people worry about is the endless supply of electronics, candy, and other seemingly “must-haves” during the course of the average holiday season. However, that is not the case. While others are enjoying the season contentedly with family and friends, there are also as many people out there unable to experience the virtues of the holidays. This is why I believe that the best gift I have ever received is the gift of true generosity.
Now, you might deem my declaration as a bit cliché. However, this is actually true. For example, let’s take a look at the beggars and roamers of the city streets. Have you ever actually seen a person give something to them? Probably very rarely. Unfortunately, there are many people around the world suffering because of a lack of an essential need. Sometimes, this need can refer to an emotional idea like comfort. Other times it can be for money and supplies. Nevertheless, I believe that everyone on this planet deserves equal generosity and respect from their fellow citizens. In my unique perspective, life consists of two major roles: a receiver, and a giver. In this case, the beggars are the “receivers,” and we are supposedly the givers.
This concept indicates that I am also a receiver of generosity. An example of where this is clearly shown is when your parents buy you that new video game, regardless of the time of year. They simply did it to be nice, and also to make the world a tiny bit better. Without generosity, it is highly unlikely that we, as humans, would ever succeed in the accomplishments that we make in our everyday lives. Evil would just turn our lives over, promising a journey of contempt and misery. Luckily, however, generosity is there, and can easily be spread to all people.
My final reason that generosity is the best gift is because it spreads other virtues, such as kindness, selflessness, and even pure happiness! Conclusively, this gift can be both received and given to anyone. For example, even though my family and friends are generous to me, I could do the same to them, and even more than that. Using the key of generosity is the main part of every holiday season, because it gives us time from other stressors to relax, allowing us to freely think about the world itself as a brighter, better place for everyone.
In conclusion, the merry month of December is a time for generosity, family, and friends. But all those gifts we receive, instead of give, overwhelm us! It turns our moral character for the worse, and you will still feel guilty by the end of the day, knowing fully well that there are others who probably need those extra toys and goodies more than you will ever do. This holiday season, I think about this thoroughly, and try to set a resolution because of this for the 2017 year. Generosity is unarguably the best thing we can receive—and also give, which can create a smile on anyone’s face.

  20. Presents are a gift of love, life, and to most people a preferred expense. Presents can light up ones day or make them feel like they weren’t good enough to deserve something high quality. They can define the way a person or a set of people feel about you compared to others in a positive way or a negative way. Now, that we know what presents can do, what was the best one you could claim you got from someone by factoring in everything it needs to have? So, what was the best present I have ever gave or gotten?
The best gift I’ve honestly ever gotten must be the gift of humor also known as the ability to finds things funny. Humor is the one thing that will always make ones day better if it was not going so well. Humor is just letting the body let out for a while, and just lets you take a rest of the serious cruel world around you. In addition, humor cannot only be a present given to you, as there is usually someone else to witness that cause with you, and share that laugh caused with you. Overall, humor is not only a gift received but a gift that is also able to be given.
To me though, humor is the best present over any other possible in the whole entire universe. In my opinion humor makes life better to give for me, as even when I am the most devastated person in the world, I can still feel better with a few good laughs. A good laugh can make me say hey to someone instead of ignoring them with a vulgar face on. I see humor as a way for me to get rid of reality, ignore the cruel realty, and go into a fictional world where every day is an amazing one. Humor gives me thoughts that always transform into ideas that I wish I could get with the normal, boring mind on any given day.

Giving the gift of humor is just as great as getting it though, as getting it gives you happiness, but spreading it gives you, and someone who deserves a laugh just as much as you. Giving someone else a laugh gives you a really good feeling on the inside that is impossible to copy with anything else. Even giving someone a million dollars cannot match giving someone a laugh that helps them gets through any given day. I can feel content with myself if I give someone a laugh for Christmas over some new socks or new underwear. We really need to make someone laugh instead of giving them something that only lasts for one stinking day.
All in all, laughter is the best give to give to someone, and to get from someone. I love laughing, and I guarantee the rest of the world does too. Comedy is a great gift, and it is something that should be spread more than anything else. - Taneesh Amin

  21. December is an exciting month for many people. There are many holidays in this month like Christmas and Kwanzaa, and then there is New Year. Almost everyone is in a great mood because New Year time is a great celebration for many. People give and receive many gifts during the month of December. I have received and also gave many gifts throughout the years . Some gifts that I have received include books, clothes, shoes, etc. The two best gifts I have ever received are my robotic dog CHiP and my ukulele.

I mentioned that one of the best gifts I have ever received is my dog CHiP. Not everyone must have heard of this dog, so I will explain to you briefly what it is and what it does. This dog is pretty much a real dog, but robotic. It reacts to everything you do to it. For example, if you touch its nose, put your hand on his head, or put your nose on its nose, CHiP reacts. This dog can get mad, sad, or happy, like a real dog. You can play fetch with it, or even soccer! CHiP is one of the best gifts I have ever received because you can do anything with it. When ever I am bored, or have nothing to do, I can always go to CHiP and enjoy with it. CHiP is a robotic dog, but I think that it is a real dog. This robotic dog is a gift that I love!

My ukulele is also one of the best gifts I have ever received. I can always learn music and play music on it to pass time or for enjoyment. There are so many different songs to learn on it like Riptide and Happy Birthday. There are so many websites and videos online showing how to play different songs on the ukulele. If I have free time, I would either be practicing my ukulele or learning new songs. After I got my ukulele, I got interested into music. Before, I was not a very musical person. I like to listen to ukulele music as well, because it interests me even more to learn music. I love my ukulele very much, and it is one of the best gifts I have ever received.

My ukulele and CHiP are the best gifts I have ever received. If I am lonely and bored, I can play with my ukulele and CHiP. They are like my two best friends. The ukulele and CHiP are truly the best gifts I have ever received.

  22. Giving gifts to your loved ones is common in December due to the numerous holidays, such as Christmas, Hanukka, Kwanzaa, and the new year. It's an exciting time of the year when people all around the world spend time with their friends and family, exchange presents, and celebrate the holidays with each other. Presents are like a symbol of what someone means to you. People say money can't buy happiness, and while they aren't wrong, money lets you purchase gifts for others and see the look on their face when they open them. That doesn't necessarily mean all presents have to be material objects. Sometimes, the best presents aren't material objects. I've received many presents and given a few as well. Most of my gifts have been things such as clothes, toys, and books. However, the best gifts I've ever gotten would have to be a new computer from my mom and a stuffed elephant from my grandparents.
During the summer, my old computer stopped working. It would take an hour to get to the login screen, and after logging in, I couldn't even open Google Chrome without a message saying that the program isn't responding popping up. I had already received a few books for my birthday, and my mom told me I'd have to wait for a new computer. She never told me how long I would have to wait, however, and I spent three months without a computer- unless my dad lending me his for schoolwork counts. I've always been used to having a computer readily available for use, so I really disliked not having one. Naturally, I got used to it, and I even stopped wanting a new one. However, I was still really happy the day I returned from school and found a new computer on my desk a few weeks ago. I wasn't expecting one and I was really grateful that I got one.
As for the stuffed elephant, I received it when I was six years old. I had gone to India over summer vacation, and at one point during my trip, I visited an amusement park with my grandparents. It was a lot of fun, and we spent most of the day there. We went on rides, wandered around in a hedge maze, and saw a petting zoo. At the end of the day, we were heading back towards the car when we passed by a little stall selling souvenirs. I looked at all the items there (most of them were stuffed animals) when I noticed a little gray elephant. I really liked it for some reason, and I thought it would be nice if I had a souvenir to remember the day by. Even though it cost a little too much for a stuffed toy, my grandparents agreed to buy it for me. I'm still really glad they decided to get it for me because it brings back memories of thay day. In conclusion, the best presents I've ever received have been a new laptop from my mom and a toy elephant given by my grandparents.

When you wake up Christmas morning, you jump out of your bed and run to your christmas tree, which is buried with tons of presents. Many people think that the best gift ever is an iPhone 7, a hover board, a jetpack, a limo, or any other items you desire, but i think that the most important gifts of all are the gift of life, good health, friends, and family.

In my opinion, I think that one of the greatest gifts of all is life, because without it, you wouldn’t be here in our wonderful world. You wouldn’t get to enjoy the nature that’s around us. Even though there are many ups and downs in your life, everything always gets better.

Another important gift I have gotten is good health. Some people in our world have health challenges, and in some cases, they don’t have enough money to get a cure. I am very thankful that I am very healthy today, and I pray that those in this world that have health challenges will be okay.

Friends and family are also very important gifts because they help you enjoy life, and they make you feel complete. In fact, I haven’t seen my best friend since a year ago, and when I saw her during Christmas break, I was smiling brighter than every star in the galaxy!

In conclusion, these are the best gifts I have ever gotten. From from this day forward, I hope that you think that no matter what you get, the gift of life, good health, friends, and family are the best gifts in the entire world. I also hope that you appreciate these treasures, because we don’t live in this world forever, and time goes by pretty fast, so put everything aside for a while, and think about all the treasures that God has blessed you with.

  24. I know Christmas is about giving gifts and enjoying time with family/friends but since I seldomly celebrate it, I’ve decided to tell y’all about the best present I ever received!

Also, before I go in depth with the best present I got, Christmas really isn’t about exchanging presents! It’s about the love and jolliness that spreads around when everyone is together, without their phones or laptops, without Facebook and Instagram and SnapChat and all the other unimportant apps and games. You see, Christmas is that type of day that you get to spend with your family, rejoicing the great times you’ve all had and forging the new ones for the future! So forget about the latest post or the newest text you got and try to spend a bit more time with family instead of looking at one tiny little rectangular device for the whole day!

This goes back a LONG time ago, all the way back when I was like almost 5! So it’s that time of the year, Christmas is right at the corner and my two cousins (one that is 2 years older than me, and the other that is 9 months younger than me) are at my place for the time being. At the time, there was only one thing that I was interested in and I’m pretty sure some of the boys in our class know what I’m talking about! It’s Bakugan!! If you don’t know what these are, I’ll explain. These are awesome toys shaped in a ball that were pretty much considered “battle brawlers”. They would pop up on the gate card (a magnetic card where the Bakugan would stick magnetically on and that card would aid the Bakugan in winning). You see, you would challenge an opponent to a brawl and use your Bakugan’s might and ability cards (cards that you would activate to furthermore boost your Bakugan’s power) to defeat them. Now, I also watched the TV show of it a lot too, so I knew my Bakugan from A to Z. I even dressed up as the main character, Dan, once for Halloween! I very much admired it and I had an unstoppable collection of them! I was always on top went it came to brawling and there were only one or two people out of my friends and cousins that could actually defeat me. Although I had good sportsmanship, I did not want to lose for I wouldn’t be on the top anymore, knowing that those one or two people were going to brawl me again with stronger, better and newer Bakugan. I got so worried that I began literally practicing with my Bakugan (which when I think about it today makes me chuckle) and started making new plans/strategies. And then came along that Bakugan, the Fusion Dragonoid! An epic beast which was pretty strong! That was the top and only thing on my wish list! And so, I suppose you can guess what happens next. I get the Bakugan and crush my friends into oblivion (just kidding)! Well, atleast I crush them in a brawl!

  25. Once again, the sleigh bells of Christmas ring in the distance, approaching steadily closer, marking the end of the holiday season and the start of a new year. However, before the new year starts is the time for giving and receiving gifts.

In my household, gift giving isn't really a huge monumental moment. It is always exciting, of course, not knowing what you'll get, but most of the time, the presents are necessities, or that pair of socks that I offhandedly mentioned once looked nice. The case in point is that the gifts I get aren't huge, expensive, luxurious items, such as electronics or ancient relics passed down through the family.

Don’t think that presents I get are always dull and boring though. There have been a select few years in which I have gotten amazing presents, such as headphones or once, even a mini sewing machine. Although you might think- ‘oh, the best gifts are the most expensive, right?’ that mentality is often wrong. It is true that expensive gifts mean that the giver is willing to spend money on you, but as always, a gift from the heart is the best. As the saying goes, ‘money can’t buy happiness.’

This is proven when the best gift I ever received, was in fact, not very luxurious or expensive at all. After I rushed down the stairs on Christmas morning to open the presents, the wrapping paper revealed a mug, a journal, and one last object contained in a box. I placed aside the mug and journal, and opened the box. I had been expecting maybe a necklace, or a phone case, but instead, there sat the digital stylus that I had wanted for who knows how long.

Ever since I was a child, I always loved drawing. Sketching, painting, coloring, everything seemed so fun and interesting to me. I loved creating and crafting, and I still do. Only recently, however, had I gotten into digital art. The concept of being able to use technology to draw had only appeared to me this fall. Sadly, it is hard to draw on a tablet using your finger. It cramps your hand and drops your precision. I was having a really hard time, and one or twice voiced out my struggles to my family but I didn't think they would really do anything about it.

You can imagine my surprise when I saw the sleek, thin styluses that laid on my hand. On a closer, look, they were the exact kind that I had been looking at earlier that week on Amazon, the kind that I never would had thought was in that box underneath the Christmas tree. Adding to this, the stylus was also blue, my favorite color. I was overjoyed. The fact that my family payed attention to my predicament, and took the time and effort to research into what would best help, was beyond heartwarming. This knowledge was beyond the best present that I could have ever hoped for.

  26. A lot of the population in the United States celebrates Christmas. And I agree with what you said above, that it is a very special month. I think that it is a very special month for everybody. Even if you don’t celebrate christmas, you can still give a gift to someone. I think that you don’t have to celebrate Christmas in order to give gifts, you can give someone a gift no matter what holiday you celebrate. It doesn’t have to be a gift in a material form, it could be something as simple as giving a hug. All your gift has to do is make the person, you are giving it to, smile.I have received a lot of gifts in the past years, from toys to electronics. But, the best gift that I have ever gotten, from a family member or a friend, is love, happiness, care, and trust. Everyone around me, in my regular life, have given me the love, happiness, and the care that I needed. They made sure that I was always happy and that I was never upset. Whenever I was feeling down, they helped me understand that life isn’t always going to be fair and that I will have to face the problem myself. They taught me that things aren’t always going to be the way I want them to be. The best gift that I have ever gave my parents is love and trust. The best gift I ever gave my friends is love, happiness, and trust. I basically gave my friends and family members something that they would expect from me. I gave them the basic things that every person on this Earth should give each other. Imagine if everyone gave each other happiness, there would be no one that would be upset or depressed. If this were our world, there would be no crimes in our world, and this would be the best place. Another gift that I have given to my parents, besides a physical item, is respect. Along with happiness, care, love, and all that good stuff, they deserve a lot of respect. They work really hard everyday, and try to fulfill all of our wishes. So, everyone should remember that this year, as a present for Christmas, give everyone that cares about you a little respect. Another very good gift you could give someone is to say sorry to whoever you might have disrespected or might have been rude to. You would rather go into 2017 with a clean slate, then having to remember that, you have been mean to someone, for the rest of your life. I would rather walk into 2017 very proud, and with a clean slate.

  27. The time of the holidays has come. One of my favorite times of year has arrived. Christmas! The time where you give your love and presents to the people closest to you. Every year I rush down the hallways of my house on christmas day to unwrap my presents. Countless of heartwarming gifts given to me and many gifts I personally had given too. Christmas is widely celebrated over the world but some people don't celebrate it. Even if you don't celebrate christmas the act of giving is a gift itself. You don't have to celebrate christmas to give back or share a little love. To me that is what Christmas means to me, giving back and loving each other.
Now back to the point. My best gift? Well i have have gotten multiple of gifts over the years that have all been tremendously great. This gift is actually not an item or possession. I think the best gift I could have received is my friends. One of the most precious things in my life. My friends have always been there by my side ready to help. They cheer me up when i'm down, they are very trustworthy and they entertain me each and every day.Whenever I need help with homework or any general thing they are always there ready and helpful. When I get sad about something like grades or anything i always have my friends to cheer me up and get me in a better mood. I can also trust my friends with my life(I know that might seem overwhelming but it’s true)! I have known my friends so long that they have became almost a need in my life because of their amazing qualities. They are the people who lead e to be the greatest person and the people who will give back to you. So that is my favorite or precious gift I have ever gotten, my friends. Also I like to add that this writing is not because I have to write something beautiful and I actually think that this is the best gift I have ever gotten. I just wanted to quickly say to all my friends that possibly read this that keep being the greatest friends and that is why you people are the greatest gift to me.

The time of year to give and get is just around the corner and people are filled with joy. Many people would love to see Santa but it is literally impossible. I would love to pretend to be Santa one day and give gifts to everyone what kind of experience would that be. I think I’ll save that for when pigs fly. I have given people many different gifts and have received many different gifts to but there was one gift in specific that I will tell you about.
One Christmas I got a gift from my friend as a Christmas/going to India gift. About a week before I left I told him about the trip and how I was going to die of boredom since I couldn’t take my iPad or phone because they broke. He said he felt sorry for me promising he would call a lot on my dad’s phone so we could talk. It was the day after Christmas and we were leaving in 10 minutes. I decided I would open the gift but then when I opened the wrapping paper there was another one inside. This one had a note on it. “Do not open until you are at the Indian airport about to leave.” That really burst my bubble of excitement into half.
We were at the airport and I wanted to kill myself instead of waiting to open the gift but I didn’t. The airplane ride was good as usual I tried to save money by watching movies I haven’t seen. I’d say I saved about $500 that day. We finally reached Dubai our half way to India. I decided that I was close enough so I opened the present. Inside was a box with another note, “tried to open it early huh I can’t believe you your probably at Dubai right now so you only have to wait 14 more hours.”
I thought to myself how did he know I would open it early. Well since he knew I would open it I gave him that win. I waited for the longest 14 hours of despair and temptation. We finally got there and I opened the box inside was yet another box with a message, “Hope you like chips.” What the surprise was chips he just went from 3rd to 15th in my friend ranking list. Then I opened it for yet another package with three Nintendo 3ds games and a message, “Oh, probably should tell you by chips I meant Nintendo 3ds chips in case you have one at India.” That made me even madder because he thought that I had a Nintendo in India when I told him I had no electronics at India, that took him down to 20th. I saw a crack in the wrapping paper and sort of saw another note.
I opened the paper and saw hopefully the final note, “I’m guessing you don’t have a Nintendo at India if I’m right then open the box if I’m wrong then this note never happened and do whatever you want with what’s inside the box, I’m guessing I’m right merry Christmas.” He was right so I did as he said I opened the box and inside was a final note saying, “I hope you enjoy the gift inside the box but I’m sorry to tell you that when you come back to America I will probably be at my new house in Mumbai. That’s right I’m moving so I put my entire soul into this gift for you hope you like it.
P.s. make sure you call a lot.” That made me very sad but I did what he said and found his soul in the gift he gave me It was a Nintendo 3ds. That made me so happy and we never forgot each other and called a lot.
The reason this gift that my friend gave me was so special wasn’t because it was an expensive gift it was because he put his soul into it just because he was leaving that took him from 20th to -1000th. He as higher than everything. That was the most valuable gift someone gave me for Christmas.
